Local Harringay ward Councillor James Ryan has resigned. There will be a selection meeting by the Labour Party followed by a far more perfunctory by-election.
Zena Brabazon!!!! Please stand in our ward!
Local Labour Party members, please select Zena!
More details here and here. Expect Council Leader Claire Kober to have an alternative candidate in mind.

There's a notice of vacancy for Harringay on this page:
http://voting.haringey.gov.uk/
but the link to the .pdf does not work.
It says the file is under the directory 2014/01, ha ha ha.
Something outrageous though is that Pat Egan died in July last year and they held the by-election in October! What's the rush Nick?
They print them, scan them, convert to pdf (so a photo of the text) and that's why you can't copy/paste from their massive PDFs. Sort of anti-internet.
Right so don't for a minute think that the Labour Party have not had loads of time to prepare, knowing that this is coming. I originally thought they'd finally sacked him for dereliction of duty but apparently he's just taken a politically sensitive job in London government.
Is this enough time to accept postal votes because the holidays start on the 15th of July and Harringay will just be full of ineligible house sitters.
The school holidays (in state schools in Haringey) start anywhere between the 20th to 22nd July.
Not everyone will be on holiday - plenty of people in Harringay don't have school aged children, or any children, or can't afford a holiday or have house sitters.
Right-clicking on the link let me download the PDF. I've posted the text below.
So in this instance, John McMullan, it seems your critique of the graphic PDF nonsense is not accurate. (Or maybe they read your comment below and decided that this time they would make an effort and not look like anti-internet dunces.)

Dear oh dear all this bitching
And all this talk of the Lib Dems is so laughable - Schmidt and Alexander lost last time, or didn't you notice - no doubt something to do with their party signing up to the austerity programme which has led to huge reductions in council budgets...
I had no time whatever for the LibDem National leadership.
But when I was on the council I respected those LibDem councillors who worked hard for their wards on practical matters. This included both David Schmitz and Karen Alexander. I found both of them happy to work with Labour councillors on cross party issues - in committees and in local work. As I recall, they didn't take part in the childish yah-boo culture.
Naturally I shall be hoping to see a democratic socialist Labour candidate. (Well, that's what it says on the back of my membership card.)
Robin2, we'll leave the bitching to you, shall we?
Some of us here had in mind not the Lib Dem or Green or Labour Parties whether local or national, but rather the quality of Ward Councillor we would like to represent Harringay for the next two years, and the proven quality of two of those who have represented us for four and eight years of the past decade.
Meanwhile, since these days we are being encouraged to #thankyourMP etc, how can I show my deep appreciation for the half life and sudden demise of Cllr James Ryan for whose existence we have only KoberLabour to thank.
