Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello.

Just after a bit of advice. We're thinking of moving to this area and I've read some conflicting stories online. The property we're interested in backs onto Russell Park.

We've visited the park during the day and it's really lovely, but I wonder what it's like at night, and also whether there are any events regularly organised there that would play loud music?

I'm very noise sensitive so I just want to know what the area is like before making a decision.

Thank you all in advance for any tips you have :)

Hi - I moved to Noel Park in April, though I don't back on to Russell Park. The area is quite quiet and with little through traffic. My neighbours are nice as well.

I think there are plans to improve the park (check out https://noelparknet.ning.com/) with funding from the 'Noel Park Big Local' - but it is in good state in the day and it may be closed at night, aside from the path from Willingdon Road to Russell Avenue. I haven't noticed any regular events in the Park, though there is a hub which does very small scale events.

Drive past after dark and see the difference

As with Ducketts common

Thanks, Bob. I've heard of Ducketts Common being rough but is Russell Avenue the same? It looks like a very quiet, family orientated street. Would you not recommend it as an area?

I'm not round there regularly but pass through probably every 2 or 3 weeks on average (both daytime and evening). It always seems pretty quiet when I pass through. There's generally a few people there but it seems a bit like Belmont Rec in that for whatever reason it isn't that popular.

Hi Mayka, I've lived in Noel Park for seven years and would recommend the area. We don't back on to the Park, so can't really comment on what it's like at night, but the area itself is generally quiet and peaceful. I'm not aware of any events taking place in the Park and we've gone there regularly since our son was born and never had any problems. He's at the school now and getting on well there, we've met loads of nice people in the area - 'new' residents like ourselves but also neighbours who've lived here for 30, 40 years.

Thank you all very much ;)

Hi I have lived on Russell Avenue for 7 years and have 2 young children so use the park most days! I don't recall any loud events ever being organised there, it's mostly used by families and dog walkers. I'm really happy we bought in this area and we're planning to stay long term. Do send me a message if there's anything else you'd like to chat about!

We've lived right by the Darwin Rd entrance to Russell Park since 2014, having lived in Noel Park since 2007.  There are lots of young families here (and some very kind and friendly older folks too!) and the streets are very quiet, hence the learner drivers pootling around.  Other traffic is minimal.

There are occasionally groups of people hanging around by the park entrance, but I've noticed a marked decrease in this in recent years.  I've always felt safe in the park itself, which, as someone else said, is closed at night.  No big noisy events have taken place in the park in my time - I guess it's a bit small for that sort of thing.

All the best as you decide!
