The 'Let' signs are up at Disney. The hundred year party is really over. An authoritative source tells me that the new tenants will be Superdrug lookalike Savers.
As to Disney's past, Adam Coffman and I made a short film with the two Disney brothers and we'll be sharing that as soon as it makes it out of editing!

I have never been in a Savers shop but I see that there is one nearby on Wood green High Road. The Savers web-site does not mention the word pharmacy so I suppose they sell only non-prescription medicaments and food supplements. I find a certain contradiction between their "Health, Home and Beauty" headline and their more detailed claim "We stock a wide range of Hair Care, Personal Care, Oral Care, Household Cleaning, Fine Fragrance, Toiletries, Health Care, Skin Care, Food, Drink and Alcohol* products." * Alcohol in selected stores only (including Wood Green).
I'm delighted to be able to report that the Leader of the Council Claire Kober has written to Savers asking them to keep the the shop front, as has Ian Sygrave/the LCSP. I have yet to hear back from any of St Ann's or Harringay councillors, or from David Lammy (the last if whom may well be preoccupied on other matters).
I grew up in 5c Grand Parade, Green Lanes Harringay, from 1939 till 1964. I remember Disneys Furniture Shop, it was a Land Mark for Harringay. It's a shame it's finally closed!!!!!!!!!
You spoke of two Disney brothers, Hugh, but do you know if they had a sister or maybe an aunt named Jean? I was at Woodlands Park School in the early 1950's with a Jean Disney who used to say that her father owned Disney's … but you know how children like to boast!
I just spoke with the shop fitters and it seems that Savers will be opening during the week of 12th. As to the shopfront, it seems like my plea to council leader Claire Kober did the trick. As previously reported, Claire was very sympathetic and wrote to Savers management to ask them to protect the shopfront. Chatting with the fitter just now it seems like the word has come down the line to do just that. They've been told they can't touch a thing for conservation reasons. So, it'll be painted white bit otherwise stay the same. Yaaay.
Well done squire.
