Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The 'Let' signs are up at Disney. The hundred year party is really over. An authoritative source tells me that the new tenants will be Superdrug lookalike Savers.

As to Disney's past, Adam Coffman and I made a short film with the two Disney brothers and we'll be sharing that as soon as it makes it out of editing!

Awww that's a shame! I heard the old Wetherspoons in Crouch End is going to be one too. I had hoping for something a little more exciting, I must say.
It's not a stretch to require a hand painted sign like Hashtag Chips. Does the building frontage have any listed status? How can we ensure it isn't ripped out like the Queens Head, Frobisher Rd?
In the Slug and Lettuce, Islington I remember the chain removed an original Victorian bar and sold it on, the council made them buy it back and reinstate it, will Haringey take this much interest, in a building of local historic importance.
I imagined the 'Harringay Bizarre,' a it like the Black Market Kensington, as permanent home for store holders that were produced by Harringay Market and Chestnuts.

John Hinshelwood is drawing up a list of historic buildings, this should be top of the list.
That would have been a great idea! Such a shame it's going to be what it is. i definitely would have preferred an independent, even another kebab barn would have been better than this.
Absolutely. The frontage is wonderful

I do wonder how the old frontage will fit in to Savers branding. I've sent them an email to make an initial enquiry. Once we have confirmation that Savers are indeed the new tenants and what their plans are, it may well be appropriate for any other concerned residents to drop them a line.

The Family originally came to London from Liverpool, and the connection with the Famous Uncle is true. He once sent them a Mickey Mouse watch.

There is no connection with the American branch of the family other than an exploratory letter the entertainment giants solicitor checking out any inappropriate use of the Disney brand name. Needless say, it went no further. More detail on that in the film.

Let's campaign for the Neon to be reinstated, it's a landmark.

I met the manager of the umbrella shop in New Oxford Street, he said he grew up above a Haberdashers, either across the road or next door, the only two examples of Victorian frontages I have experienced in London.
The neon was sold.

I know, but I've got the number of the guy who fixed it last time, he could easily bend another.

I found a neon under Brooklyn Bridge, UA let me put it in the captains locker. It had two breaks and he repaired it. It's in the loft now and reads 'Cast from Darkness.' Luigi re gassed it with white neon, cast two new letters, a new tranny, back in business. My brother used to design neon sculptures, so I was keen to have one.

Here's his Number: 07788 454190, otherwise there's our local sign dudes on Wightman Road, next to Railway Mansions.

Do we have these to hand from the HoL archives?
