Lausanne Road pavement to be replaced
Working with Haringey Council, we are delighted to report that the pavement will be replaced. The work is scheduled to take place between 2nd December 2013 and 10th January 2014 though residents and businesses will be notified by Haringey Council, 7 - 10 days in advance of the specific date of the works.

You'll also get a visit from the tree people. They check all the street trees for health, and we lost two - one had a fungal infection, another had a grossly overgrown lower bole that was blocking the pavement. But by kicking off and making a fuss, we got them to agree to replace those two with five, which are due to be planted any day now (a wintertime job). The spaces are left, with edges, as part of the tarmac works.

The condemned trees had notices put on, with contact info IIRC. The tree people then arranged a visit and talked us through the reasons, and we were able at that point to lobby for extra replacements. They are very helpful and they are reluctant to take out trees if not necessary. This was through the aegis of our RA but probably any individual can do similar.

Thank you. Will keep an eye out. We lost an ill tree in the storm so hopefully the rest are fine.

I've been following this thread on HoL. Since October I've chaired the Green Lanes Strategy Group which you probably know Nilgun chaired for many years. I'll ask the lead officer for the street improvement works about the ramp and will post an answer as soon as I get the reply and information.

Hi Therese
Here's the reply I received from Stephen Jones who is project managing the Green Lanes improvement and construction programme. As you can see from his email the current ramp arrangements are temporary . The changes he sets out should mean there will be no need for an access ramp in Beresford Road.

Lausanne Road is outside of the boundary of the schemes I am delivering. I have made enquiries and can confirm the works are planned maintenance, which is being managed by Mahmood Ramjan who I have cc’d.
Works that have been undertaken for the Green Lanes Corridor and OLF projects are being delivered in logical phases, which categorise and group the physical elements that are being installed. Our contractor has been mainly concentrating on footway and kerb works to date, which includes the kerb realignment on Beresford Road.
The next phases of works will include raising the carriageway to footway level on the majority of the side-streets adjoining Green Lanes – this will then negate the need for access ramps at these locations.
The ramps that are currently installed are temporary ramps whilst the contractor has ceased construction, which is due to the Christmas Embargo (when construction must stop between 2 December to 5 January).
This information is consolidated on a 2-weekly basis and sent to all key stakeholders, which includes Harringay Online. I had presumed that Harringay Online would continue to post this information as they had originally. I have attached the latest issue of the construction update for your information.
In summary, the current ramps are temporary and will be replaced by raised level road surfaces early next year. I have also attached a typical junction setting out detail that illustrates the raised junction entry treatments.

This just creates work for Hugh and Liz who are unpaid. I now know that it is possible for staff at River Park House to be given access to HarringayOnline and Twitter so it's not impossible for people like the "Major Schemes Project Manager".

Residents would have received information about the consultation and also direct information from the council about the work, I hope this happened? However I do think that's HoL is a good mechanism to engage with residents as the standard letter drop is not the only method of communication.

I think this is already done to an extent by Councillors not sure this would be appropriate for officers. But certainly asking for information to be made available as it is which other forms of media is right.

I dont have a car, but parking on the road is banned and many owners would have had to find other roads to park on and it all seems a bit pointless as there is very little activity going on apart from a bit a the bottom of the road and a container half way up. How come they are not doing half and half as they have done on other roads or if no cars are allowed to park why are they allowing through traffic?

Yes indeed.
I wrote to the Council's highways and parking officials last night and asked whether the parking restrictions might be imposed one section at a time rather than on the whole of the road for the duration. If I don't get a response by the end of the day, I'll chase.
