Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Does anyone know anything about Langham Working Men's Club? Are they very strictly members only? Or can anyone go for a drink? And is it a lively, cheery place?

Umm.... The Tollgate has 1 pound pints of bitter on and the Salisbury is one of the nicest pubs in London.... are you just curious or really looking for somewhere a little "different"?
Just being nosey
Apparently you have to be a member and they often have cabaret of a working mens club nature, no not strippers! The beer is standard fare and no real ale.
I've got my membership card for Town End Farm Working Men's club in Sunderland somewhere (I had to be nominated by my Dad and have my application passed by the club committee to get one!). As working men's clubs are affiliated organisations, in theory I should be able to get into any club. I'll see if I can find it and then try to be brave enough to give it a try - can't resist a decent game of bingo, a pie and pea supper and a good club singer.
I'm very disappointed to hear that there's no real ale. That's a rum do. Still I'd be interested to hear your report if you get in Michael.
In Geordieland where we have more than a few of these Clubs, for example until very recently my village back home had four clubs and only one pub, a CIU Affiliated member can sign a non member in for the night.
What does CIU actually stand for? (I mean the acronym, not its' moral philosophy)
JPC
club and institute union = CIU

i used to drink in there - it's what you'd expect - warm beer and piped music
