Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Landlord David Lammy MP Takes Advantage of Planning Inspector Overruling to Convert Falkland Road House for More Profit

I keep an eye on planning applications on the council website and came across one particular application to convert a house into two flats. What caught my interest was this is David Lammy’s former address when he resided in the constituency.

In the latest Borough Plan, the Ladder remains a restricted conversion area meaning single family homes should not be converted into flats. However, against Haringey Council’s wishes, the planning inspector removed some restrictions. It seems that David Lammy has been quick to jump on this change to convert a family home to flats.

This is a disappointing level of greed being taken by our MP. Since he moved out of the constituency he represents to buy a home in neighbouring Stroud Green, his former home is his only remaining housing link to the Tottenham constituency. It appears he’s using it to maximise his profit. Whilst once he fought conversions because he saw the negative impact they have on the area, he now joins the converters. He might argue that he is providing additional housing, however there is a justifiable level of demand to maintain the property as a single family home.

You can currently comment on the application HGY/2021/1557 here. One wonders how he would react if a large number of his constituents objected to his profit maximisation scheme?

From the Borough that has just borrowed £20 Million to up grade a £10. Million office block

Well reported in Ham & High

Thanks for posting this Andy.

I have reviewed and commented on the application, and do not agree with it for various reasons, but mainly due to the loss of family housing that is greatly needed across the borough and London.

The application was passed.
