Know a friend who cannot remortgage in east Finchley as the next door garden has knotweed..and next door don't need to move or remortgage, so doing nothing about it. It costs something like 3k for a 5 yr programme to errradicate..if the next door neighbour lets you into their garden!..Anyone found a good mortgage company who do mortgages given certificates of erradication would be put in place ? They'll be lucky !

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there's a particularly nasty local strain of Japanese knotweed called the "Haringey hybrid" strain.

Sounds very bad but in fact the mutant ninja local (hybrid between Japanese knotweed and Russian Vine) falls over in winter so it isn't as resilient as either of its antecedents. Phew.

Good Lord Gordon, what else lurks in Railway Fields?
