This sounds a little bizarre, but normally butchers have the equipment to sharpen knives and do it for free. At least that's what my dad used to do when I was younger. Things have probably changed but there's no harm in asking....

If you're this end, there's a shoe repair and knife sharpening place just the west side of the railway bridge over West Green Road, east of Beaconsfield Rd, one of those little huts. He sharpened my secateurs OK and has done shoe repair for me too.  I like places that keep things going even though it may seem cheaper to buy new. 41 bus.
