Hi
Can anyone recommend a shoe shop for children in Crouch End? ( I am assuming there is one there...) With reasonable prices......I am sick of Clarks!
Thanks
Gill
I can only think of one shop in CE which stocks children's shoes but it it rather limited and the staff didn't seem that clued up on measuring children's feet. It's on Topsfield Parade.
Why don't you like Clark's?
I used to go to the Red Shoe in Crouch End but have recently defected to One Small Step in Cross St, Islington, they do their own range which are really lovely and a bit more individual than Clarks but around the same price. They also stock quite a wide range or other brands, or Igloo round the corner on Upper Street stock some lovely shoes.
There is an Islington theme developing here.
I like Jimmy's Shoes on Essex Road (the 341 takes you all the way there). I took my son in a few weeks ago because I was worried his fairly new shoes (from Clarks in Wood Green) weren't fitted properly. The staff were great, really took time to measure his feet properly, didn't do a hard sell on new ones (the sizing was pretty good) and answered a lot of embarassing questions about veruccas! They sell adult shoes too. Mind you, we did end up buying Clarks ..
Thanks everyone. Looking at tomorrow's forecast I think a trip on the 341 might not be such a bad thing to do! The Clarks in Wood Green always seems to be a bit of a nightmare recently. There are fewer floor staff on now, less to do fitting (so I was told on a recent visit by the one lady who had been left to do all the fittings by herself) and I have had at least one very wrong fitting done. Tried last week but the sale was on and there seemed zero chance of getting any attention.
John Lewis at Brent Cross is good - but you need to get there early at the weekends!
....Muswell Hill Clarks is pretty good at fittings
I found that clarks fitters were good in the concessions in Mothercare branches, but not in the dedicated clarks shops - weird. I don't go to mothercare any longer so if I buy clarks its from John Lewis or Russell and Bromley kids.
I've had problems with the fitting at Red Shoe unless I had the owner who is brilliant, but they are expensive.
