Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Join a mass sing-in to support protest at St Paul's on 21st Dec

I am part of a community choir near Wood Green. Sarah Jewel, who runs it, is trying to get mass support with hundreds of people to sing on the steps of St Paul's in support of the protest, on Wednesday 21st at 6.30pm. We want publicity and as many people as possible to join us. For details see  http://singupstpauls.weebly.com

In Sarah's words:

"WHY? you may well ask . My answer is that all the tried and tested means of pressurising the government and the Church to protect the vulnerable members of our society, whose numbers are increasing at a terrifying rate, have failed. I am personally excited by how different this protest feels. It has vision, energy, commitment and international consensus; uniting people of all faiths and those with none, old and young, left and right, the dispossessed and homeless with the rest of the population who care about such things in a common cry ; enough is enough.  This is not a movement of extremists;it has massive popular support and most importantly, regardless of one's political persuasion,  it has got the world TALKING about alternatives and action. So I aim to do what I do best ... get my world singing , together, in celebration of the voice that when joined with others is more than the sum of its parts .

I WOULD LIKE TO CALL ON ALL MY FRIEND AND ACQUAINTANCES to contribute to a concert - ONE REHEARSAL / ONE PERFORMANCE - informal , acoustic and joyful on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral on December 20th at 6.30 pm for one hour. The legal eviction process to remove the tents, which has failed once, begins again on DEC 19th so our timing is crucial to gain public support and recognition for the sacrifices the residents of the camp have made so far. You don't need to agree with everything they say - I don't ! - you simply need to acknowledge that the extremes of poverty and wealth, the levels of unemployment, the savage cuts to vital public services, the demoralisation of our youth and the greed, secrecy and corruption that allows the banking system to remain unchecked in this country have become utterly unacceptable and we want our elected government to address that NOW .

All offers of support hugely welcome.

COME ON !! lets get a massive peaceful crowd down there, singing together and putting St Paul's Cathedral back at the moral centre of this country and this crucial debate where it knows it should be."
