Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Role: Project Co-ordinator (full time)
Type: Fixed Term Contract 7 months
Salary: £18,000 per annum pro rata
Location: London

Octopus is a thriving hub of 10 multi-purpose community centres in the Borough of Islington. We are currently seeking someone who is passionate about community engagement within the heart of one London’s most diverse boroughs.

The post of Project Coordinator offers a fantastic opportunity to join an established and passionate team who are delivering the ‘Wild Places’ project.

The Wild Places Project promotes intergenerational activities, engages those who have limited access to or are excluded from natural green spaces and the ‘great outdoors’. We deliver an exciting seasonal programme of orienteering excursions into the ‘great outdoors’, informal and experiential learning opportunities, and community-based bio-diversity activities. We are also creating four legacy gardens for the local community to enjoy and appreciate, for years to come.
If you are young at heart, inspired by wildlife and most importantly eager to help make a difference in peoples lives, this job is for you. It will be highly rewarding with tangible and intangible experiences that you will keep for life!

No day is the same; you will have the opportunity to work with people from all ages and backgrounds. You will also get the chance to visit some beautiful green spaces hidden in the most unassuming places in Islington.

You will have good attention to detail, be highly organized with a quick thinking, problem solving attitude. You will need to be computer literate; Mac and social media experience would be an added bonus. Excellent communication skills are essential, and you must be a great team player, yet capable of working on your own, using your own initiative.

Ideally you will have two years’ experience working in project co-ordination, or administration role. You will be willing to work ‘out of hours’ – evenings and/or weekends – to help deliver fun community events.
