Job opportunity: P/T Outreach Worker at Hornsey Vale Community Centre

14hrs per week 
Fixed term contract to March 2015 - £11,046 per annum 

Following a successful bid to the Voluntary Sector Investment Fund administered by Haringey Council, Hornsey Vale Community Centre, a vibrant and sustainable hub of the community, is seeking to expand its workforce. The post holder will be a team member; with experience of working in a community setting and acting on his/her own initiative. 

The successful candidate will build on the existing work of the centre to:

• Identify new user groups which provide opportunities for disadvantaged adults in LB Haringey and encourage their presence in the centre;
• Facilitate a series of events to promote greater interaction and collaboration between the centre’s new and existing user groups;
• Contribute to enhancing the marketing of the centre to target groups through improvements to the website, signage, printed materials and the use of social media;
• Develop volunteering opportunities among users and the wider community.

The role will involve working in close liaison with the existing centre coordinator and will be overseen by the management committee. The ideal person will have:

• Excellent working knowledge of target user groups within LB Haringey and the specific needs of their members;
• Knowledge of good practice and the legal requirements for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children;
• Experience of events organisation;
• Experience of monitoring service delivery, identifying good practice and developing and implementing improvements;
• Proven track record of liaising with community groups and volunteers;
• Excellent communication skills and experience of working with digital media;
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as organise his/her own workload.

The post is funded up to March 2015.
