David Austin Grey's Hansu-Tori + GUFO
Hansu-Tori are a Birmingham based band, playing vibrant, original contemporary music.
The Korean term ‘Hansu’ means ‘water‘. “A drop of water gathering to make an ocean”. Specifically Hansu represents strength, flexibility, harmony and water as the source of life. ‘Tori’ is the Japanese word for ‘bird‘. It can be thought to represent freedom and grace.
Hansu-Tori have recently recorded a new studio album. The album ‘An Improvised Escape‘ is due for release in September 2014.
The group consists of David Austin Grey (piano/compositions), Sam Wooster (trumpet/electronics), Chris Young (alto saxophone) Nick Jurd (double bass/electric bass) & Jim Bashford (drum kit).
Hansu-Tori focus on original music written by pianist and band leader David Grey. Hansu-Tori have received a lot of positive feedback and support from fans as well as many key figures within the arts, with the band’s previously recorded album – ‘The Dark Red Room’ – being featured on BBC Radio 3, Jazz FM and UK jazz radio.
