Is your porch safe? some advice

hello all
Not to alarm anyone, but I missed being crushed to death (perhaps) by the lovely old porch overhang outside the house on Monday just gone. I was going to pop to Sainsburys but decided to have a coffee instead and whilst brewing up heard an almight crash at the front of the house. Everything had come down from the outside wall, the wood bits, bricks, red tiles, the lot! anyone underneath that wouldnt have stood a chance. Neither myself nor my neighbour had any idea that the structure was unsafe but someone had noticed (we later found out) that the structure was slightly pulling away. Most houses round here have the same porch overhang and most built around the same time. Good advice is to check they are secure and properly attached to the wall. ours gave way suddenly and with full force..... quite a shock.
