Just heard there an Irish music session has started recently every Monday at the Great Northern Railway Tavern - has anyone been yet?
I've been getting my fix of trad tunes for the last year or so by driving over to a pub in Highgate once or twice a month, but GNRT happens every week and walkable for me.
A good session needs to meet a number of criteria, particularly in terms of the exact number of bodhran, guitar and shaky-egg players so I'd be very interested to hear how this one shapes up from anyone who has been so far?
Thanks

I went last night and can strongly recommend this. There were three fiddles, accordion, flute, plus appearances made during the evening by banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar and bodhran. Three or four songs were sung, but mostly tunes. Perfect!
It's an open session and I took my mandolin, but sat out on most of the tunes - I'm a novice player and there were a lot of unfamiliar reels being played a little too fast for me! Already looking forward to going again though.
I've posted this as an event in the What's On section. I don't know the session leaders but have added a link to their facebook page in the event listing.
Now I'm off to practice my repertoire!
