Indoor TV aerial?

As far as I recall from discussing with our aerial chap, a waste of time because the Ally Pally transmitter just takes the signal from Crystal Palace and redistributes it but so weakly that if you want a clear digital picture, you have to point your aerial towards Crystal Palace. And with an indoor aerial, unless you mount it on a 30 foot pole outside your window, you'll just get the rubbish signal from Ally Pally.

Alexandra Palace does not transmit digtal  and won't do until April 4 2012

Did you used to get a good analogue signal? If so digital will probably be ok, first thing to do is check that you can receive Freeview via: http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability/ then review indoor ariel suggestions from: http://www.ricability-digitaltv.org.uk/pages/test-reports/indoor-ae...

The 5 pound a month Virgin charge would be for another box. However, if all you want is to watch the same programme on other televisions, you could run coax cable from the cable box to the other sets, so your cost would be the one-off cost of wiring up that network.

I bought an indoor aerial from Caversham Radio Stores in West Green Road and my daughter's new digital TV now works perfectly in her bedroom whereas without it she could get nothing. They also sell extension cable if you require it.

I was just wondering if any other people are having any luck using an indoor aerial in the ladder area.
