A huge and ugly advert for Paul Simon has been put up on the side of a house at the top of Hermitage Road. I don't have the skills to upload a photo but as it's at least 4 meters by 6 meters you will be able to see it from Green Lanes and possibly also Google Earth. Please can someone point me towards the nice people who got the other ones taken down?
I suggest that - if you haven't already done so - you copy your original email and the reply, pointing out your concern to the three councillors for Seven Sisters ward.
Ah bless you Tris, I thought nobody cared. I made a few more calls back in 2010 and nothing happened so I gave up. As you say the mega sign is still there. I think it must've joined match.com because it now has a companion, nestling snugly a few feet away, which lauds some other Paul Simon "service". So that's 3 years of illegal free advertising for Paul Simon & 3 years of disrespect for the law and the community by Paul Simon.
It's deeply depressing how local businesses are willing and able to abuse the community for so long. But heartening that you, Tris, are taking up the battle. Let me know what happens and if I can help. That building is an eyesore. Somebody stores their minging trainers on the windowsill below the offensive banners, clearly so foul they cannot be kept indoors. Not sure we can get them removed however, except by environmental health.
If only, it's about 20 foot off the ground and very robust. also its attached to one of their properties and protected by the minging trainers of Hermitage.
