Hi all - I live locally and I'm fundraising for CalAid to raise money to buy essentials and urgently needed items like soap, shampoo, torches, etc for refugees- I've raised £875 so far (after an original target of £100!), and am hoping to reach £1000 by Sunday 6 Sept. Many of these donations have been from complete strangers and despite media distortions on the reasons for the flight of so many women, men and children; the response has been overwhelmingly supportive and positive, with so many people wanting to do something to help.
Please share & donate if you can. http://www.gofundme.com/442wbpm8
These items will be sent to the main 'shop'/centre in Calais by CalAid where donations are properly distributed by Pascal and his team, who I have been in touch with. In the video link below, Pascal explains what is and isn't required. I'll be updating everyone with a list of everything bought when done.

CalAid have a donation drop off point in Dalston on Kingsland High Road and are asking people to bring things required on Sunday 6th Sept. They have a very specific list of things required so please check the website. Men's trainers, hiking boots, tents, sleeping bags, blankets and jeans (smallish sizes only) are very urgently needed. If people have donations but don't have transport, let me know. I am also taking donations of things, but only have a small car so depends how full I get.
If you have a car, do consider collecting locally too if you can. THANKS.

PS - I'm driving around collecting from a few houses in N8 / N22 / N4 and NW5 tonight - so, if anyone has things let me know and I may be able to collect - just PM me your number and I'll be in touch. Do make sure you look through the list of things needed on the CalAid site - some items and sizes are not required, where others are urgently needed.
I am sure we have some spare footwear in those sizes but I am not around today/tonight to check. I will take anything we have to Dalston on Sunday and have donated. Much respect for doing this.
That would be great. Many thanks. If you are on Facebook / Twitter, would really appreciate it if you can share the link to the fundraising page. THANKS Leigh x
Think it's your ipad as it works fine on my computer (just checked it!) The drop off is at the Hive, 260-264 Kingsland Road E8 4DG thanks Leigh
