A 2 out of 6 for Pemberton Rd

I'm surprised it isnt higher, sandwiched between Green Lanes and WIghtman Rd...

Taking The Salisbury Tavern on Green Lanes we get back ... The pollution rating at N4 1JX is 3 out of 6 (slightly polluted) ... really?!

Although the Coliseum flats directly across the road are 4 on 6.

Fortunately Harringay has had better pollution surveys than this one. The codes are just estimates based on samples and a probably not perfect model. Funnily enough this was a hot topic TEN years ago, but in 2015 Ant did a proper study with King's College London. Discussed here.

Not estimates, but averages across an area -- and just as misleading.  I've been advised that Friends of the Earth has asked the BBC to take it down precisely because it so misrepresents the true situation!

In this case averages are estimates based on samples and a not perfect model. I wonder why they went public with this when some more precise sampling in an area would have confirmed their model (or not).

I used this calculator (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/apr/04/check-whether-y...) when it came out to look at some of our local schools & nurseries. If for example you use use the schools calculator to look at west green primary, it states that pollution levels are above EU limits. However this new calculator gives a 'nothing to see here' type response, with low to average readings (which of course it will do if it's taking samples from a wider geographical area).
