Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Homes in Multiple Occupation: This month's topic at the Harringay and St Ann's Area Forum

The issue of Homes in Multiple Occupation is a very hot topic for community groups and residents’ associations, as these can cause problems in local communities if they are badly managed.

It’s the main theme for the next Area Forum and Committee which is on Thursday 20 September at the Cyprus Kitchen, 628-630 Green Lanes, N8 0SD. The Area Forum runs from 6.30pm - 8.30pm, and will be followed by the area committee meeting.

Zena Brabazon, Chair, St. Ann's and Harringay Area Forum and Committee and St Ann's councillor, invites you to the debate – Setting Limits on Houses in Multiple Occupation - which will be run ‘question time’ style.

The diverse panel, including local resident Ian Sygrave and Gloria Saffrey, Director of local homelessness charity CARIS, and senior Council officers, will respond to your comments and questions, and explore the implications of national policy and local strategies in this hugely complex area.

As background, the Council is considering applying for an Article 4 Direction which would cover a large section of the borough and if agreed, would put in additional controls on landlords and conversions. The meeting falls just two days after the Cabinet meeting where this is being discussed so would form part of the Article 4 consultation process if the report is agreed.

Zena hopes you will find time to come and participate, and pass this invitation to your friends and neighbours.

The full agenda and programme for the meeting will be published on Monday
