Homebase going into administration https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c624nzepd59o. Our branch will become The Range. Not sure when but there are lots of discount/reduced placards all over the place. Notices up as well saying no purchases will be returnable.

I guess I cannot use my Homebase gift card any more then!!!
Not here after this week, but I think there may be some still remaining open.
I wonder how The Range will do here competing with TKMaxx and Sainsbury's/Argos. I personally won't be using it
Homebase Harringay will close in two months time or so according to the sole staff member at the tills this lunchtime, once as much stock as possible has been sold.
For the very curious, the nearest The Range is in Enfield (EN3 7SY, halfway between Ponders End and Brimsdown Overground stations, for orientation). Currently just a handful of branches inside the M25 perimeter.
"The Range Home & Gardens PLC ... is owned by Norton Group Holdings, who also own Wilko and Homebase.
The Range's garden centres would be rebranded to "Garden Centre by Homebase" - Wikipedia.
I am not entirely sorry to see the closure of our local Homebase. The customer service has declined significantly over the last 5-10 years, and its stock is such as to be almost useless to anyone wishing to access DIY items. However, it is obviously very concerning for those staff who will be rendered redundant, especially at this time of year. We can only hope that a retailer of worth will take over the building and the massive area of car-parking adjacent to it.
I agree with that assessment. However, sad as it is to see people made redundant before Christmas, their wages were quite low and likely subsided by the state via working tax credits etc so the additional cost to the taxpayer is small. Hopefully they find other and higher paid work quickly.
Aren't they likely to stay on as The Range employees?
It looks as if the Range will not re-open our local branch.
Did you read that somehere Christopher? The staff I spoke to thought it was going to become a Range store?
I've heard such conflicting information on this! I can't really imagine a Range store doing well here although I could be wrong. I shop at homebase often and wouldn't use The Range
I don't know the brand at all, but you've stated here twice that you wouldn't patronise The Range; curious as to whether there's a particular reason for it, or do you just feel it's not up to much?
I love the ideas by Ozbawn and DI Allen for a food hall/box park-type affair, but on the assumption the powers that be won't be that imaginative and we'll get a straight swap for another retail park chain, I'd quite like to see a proper DIY/Garden store. B&Q perhaps? I think there's a clear need for a Homebase, but as others have said here already it was just such a poorly run chain (and store) to render it unfit for most purposes.
No great hate for The Range! Just really not my thing - I do use Homebase quite often. I'd much rather see it become a B&Q or maybe even flats - there would be some really nice ones overlooking Finsbury Park although the traffic on Green Lanes might make it an unattractive prospect
