Hello,
My name is Bulent. I live on mattison road, on the ladder. I want to raise the issue of HGV using our roads and causing my house and I do believe seveal other residents homes to shake considerably.
If a forum entry has already beed create, then I apologise because I did not look as I have just joined this site.
I am wondering if any other residents are having similar problems with HGV using the road, and if they have rasised any issue with Harringay council?
I will be updating this form again, as I am waiting for a response from Harringay's Transport Policy and Projects team.
Thanks,
Bulent
Yes Bulent. This problem has been discussed many times. We have not been able to get the Council to do anything but we have found the complaining directly to the companies concerned can work. You need to ba able to quote date, time and registration plate when making your complaint so they can identify the driver. I find the easiest way is to take a digital photo as this will give the date and time.
This has been viewed ten times an hour since you posted it. I have stupidly tagged all my HGV discussions with 7.5t. I'll go back and add in a "HGV" tag which should help next time.
John D's advice is sound, your only joy is via the company that own the HGV (contrary to what most people think, lorry drivers do not own their own vehicles and treat them with the care and attention they could).
I have my own personal rogues gallery of companies involved in this practice and would love to know who this is down your way. Feel free to post a registration number...
still waiting for a decision...
Hello Hugh,
The LGO finally got back to me. Unfortunatly, not good news for me. They ruled in favour of the council!
Bummer!
I can post the full response if you like, its in PDF and the result will be made public anyway.
Regards,
Bulent
LGO final statement
May I suggest an FOI now to ask exact details on the enforcement action the Council has taken. FOI's need to be quite explicit and avoid offering space fro wiggle room. As a starter for 10 how about:
Please specify exactly what action the council has taken since 19 June 2012 to enforce the traffic restriction of the Harringay Ladder. In particular:
1. On how many occasions has the mobile enforcement unit been positioned on the Harringay Ladder in the period since June 19 2012.
2. How many vehicles has it recorded as potentially infringing weight restrictions on the Harringay Ladder?
3. How many vehicles has it recorded as potentially infringing speed restrictions on the Harringay Ladder?
4. What enforcement actions have been taken against vehicles recorded as infringing any traffic restrictions on the Harringay Ladder? Please list how many, the nature of the infringement and the action taken?
5. Are any changes planed to the traffic enforcement action being taken on the Harringay Ladder
Hugh,
I have some of the answers for you.
point 1. Spoke to Gary Weston on this issue of the mobile unit being parked around the ladder and he stated traffic restrictions that the car cannot be stationed at single point. They just drive around. I have only seen the mobile unit around the ladder once so far and that was a few months ago.
point 2 &3 . If you want the full records, I can try to ask Gary Weston to provide any information on their trials.
Point 4. I try to get that from Gary again.
point 5. the only information got which is a bit vague, was Harringay council are planning to resurface the roads on the ladder not sure on a date and maybe change some speed humbs but not sure about that.
