A few years back Harringay's high street was badly impacted by gambling outfits muscling their way in. The pressure has eased off a bit, but we're still very well served with betting and gambling machine outlets.
The large premises at the corner of St Ann's Road, opposite the Salisbury is up for grabs again - just over a decade ago the community won a fight-back against it being leased to a betting shop operator. I wouldn't wonder if it's not looking as attractive a proposition today as it was in 2012.
Now is the chance to have your say on how the Council should manage gambling in the borough.

Thanks very much, will fill this out. Note that the form highlights that they cannot consider:
On this basis, what are others considering commenting?
They might not accept “a general view that it is undesirable”, but independent research indicating gambling has an undesirable impact on communities might hold sway. This is not a bad one to start: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00343404.2022.2159355#...
I agree! I was all prepared to fill out this survey, share it with friends and get some momentum going behind this. We already have too many gambling outlets on the highstreet and its effect on families and addiction is well documented. However, if this type of objection isn’t going to be taken into consideration, then it feels like there’s little point in filling this in sadly. Plus who’s going to wade through a 37 page document before adding their (very open ended) comments? It feels like tokenism.
