Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This is not about the Harringay charter but about how the whole of Haringey will develop over the next 15 years.

The LCSP have invited all Harringay residents to attend a workshop on the Core Strategy on the 14th May.

Here's what the council says:

London Borough of Haringey and Ladder Community Safety Partnership Planning Consultation Workshop 14th May 2009

"A New Plan for Haringey 2011 – 2026: Core Strategy Preferred Options will guide the development of the places and communities where we live. This means identifying suitable locations for new development; setting high design standards for housing, town centres, and parks; improving public transport and access around the borough; providing facilities to improve the health and well-being of everyone in Haringey.

We want to hear your views on the proposed plans: How will they affect your neighbourhood and community? What suggestions can you make to improve the plans?

We are attending your meeting on 14th May 2009 to consult with you on the new plan.

Workshops will be led by planning officers and will begin with an explanation and information about the proposed policies. The group will then discuss the issues, the concerns and the gaps relating to the theme of the workshop. Issues raised in the workshops and feedback session will be noted and treated as formal representations to the consultation.

I will be hard pressed to choose between workshop 1 or 2 to participate in. So many of these issues are discussed on Harringay Online. So much of what they are talking about is of importance. It seems like a massively daunting task to tackle in 90 minutes but I guess we have to start somewhere. Perhaps the first point might be how hard it is for ordinary citizens to have enough knowledge on all these things to be able to imput meaningfully
