Help Author Haringey's Time Capsule

As Haringey's Civic Centre is restored and prepares to reopen in 2027, the Council is creating a Time Capsule to capture a snapshot of life in Haringey in 2026.

In their PR for the project, the Council say, "This is about more than the Civic Centre. It is about Haringey itself: its people, places, communities, memories, creativity and hopes for the future. We would love your help to ensure the Time Capsule reflects the breadth and diversity of life across our borough."

The capsule will be sealed and buried at the Civic Centre in November 2026, creating a lasting record for future generations to discover.

Now is the time to start thinking about what should be included. What would you want someone living in Haringey 50 years from now to know about life here today?

Whether it is a place, a cherished memory, a community tradition, an everyday experience or a hope for the future, we want to hear what matters most to people.

The organisers say that the Time Capsule is relatively small, so they are looking for meaningful contributions that can fit inside. Photographs, letters, drawings, and small objects can all tell powerful stories. Larger contributions may still be included in a digital archive.

Submissions are now open and close on 16 October 2026.
