Harringay man awarded MBE for services to the arts

Congratulations on being awarded an MBE to Paul Akinpelu Anderson, who lives off Wightman Road in Harringay, and who is chief executive of the UK Centre for Carnival Arts. Paul has spent many years celebrating the creative outpouring of carnival.

Born and raised in Islington before moving to Haringey, Mr Anderson helped set up the £7.4million Carnival Arts centre in Luton in 2009.

It provides training for the carnival community, working with international artists to explore all the art forms associated with carnival – as well as working with schools to hosts workshops to teach diversity.
