Hi there Harringay Online!
This is Ebony and Paul Harding, Harringay residents since 2007.
We thought it was time to share some details with you about our new venture on Green Lanes. If you are regulars at Blend Cafe you may have noticed some work ongoing 2 doors down at 581C, the old internet cafe. We have been busy these past months readying the site so that by Christmas we can open Harringay's newest specialist grocery store.
We will be stocking fresh organic produce sourced predominantly from British farms, free range British meat, dairy, fish, some vegan and vegetarian food and artisan bread from local bakeries as well as loads of other healthy and top notch delicious goods.
Alongside all this amazing food, we will have a wide range of wine including many organic and biodynamic varieties and an expansive range of local London/UK craft beers and ciders.
We are both big music lovers so we also plan to stock a small range of new and second hand vinyl records and cds.
Please bear with us while the renovations are ongoing, we can't wait to open the doors and hope you will be as excited as we are about the Harringay Local Store.
If anyone has any favourite items they'd like us to carry, feel free to mention them in this thread. All suggestions are most welcome!
See you soon,
Ebony and Paul

This is indeed a great news. My daughter goes to a local nursery where she needs to bring organic vegetables and fruits. We often have to hunt around such food on weekends, nice to know we can have a stable place to go to.
Not sure if you are venturing out to carry as far as cleaning products, but Ecovar series for washing and dish washing would be great too. And bio degradable/earth friendly rubbish bags, aluminium foils, compost bags, etc.
In the words of Brody from Jaws... you're going to need a bigger boat!
Great suggestions everyone, we are stoked to have you engage with us on this, and to know that you are excited about the opening too. We are confident you will be happy with the food on offer, and hope along with the basics you will support the local brands and produce we intend to showcase. There will be a wide range of herbal teas, Asian organic/natural products, bread from several bakeries (we *hope* to have e5 and Flourish on occasion), nut butters, organic grains/flours and cereals, deli produce etc etc etc.
I would like to address the suggestions re cleaning products, this is something that we have been debating for a while, as we initially planned to have only food in the store. I think this will be a last minute decision when we come to filling the shelves. If we have the space we will do it, if we don't, then food will be the priority. I think these products are very important and we ourselves try to only use eco friendly cleaning products and tools at home. But food reigns supreme at HLS so we will have to see.
The sign went up yesterday, and the interior fit-out is underway. Its a tricky time to open, we had hoped to launch this side of Christmas, but if this wont be possible due to manufacturing of the fittings, we will see you all in the very early New Year!

Well done for spotting the film reference there! Engaging with your customers has to be a good thing. I've seen a few good shops go down in Green Lanes, and it seems to me talking to your customers puts you ahead of the game. Wish you all the luck in the world....
Thanks very much Antoinette, your well wishes are most appreciated!
Ebony and Paul,
Great news to hear about your new venture.
I was at the Broadstairs food festival last month and found some really good fudge which I bought on the day. I have since ordered more online as it really is good.
I was wondering if you would be interested in buying some in (to save the rest of us having to pay delivery charges!)
The company is Totally Fudged - their website is: http://www.totallyfudged.co.uk/ and you can contact Jim on: Jim - jim@totallyfudged.co.uk His number is: 07969 343 154
They said it was ok for me to pass on their details to you.
Not sure if it fits in with your 'purchases' but if so, feel free to give them a call.
Best wishes with your new venture either way.
Maggi
Hi Maggi - thanks for the suggestion, they look great and will drop them an email :)

Hi, if you're looking for any local produce, I am a gluten free baker based in Harringay. If you're opening before Christmas I have some beautiful Christmas cakes, mince pies ang gingerbread and I have lots other yummy savoury items. I can email you some pictures if you're interested. Thanks.
If you ever start doing snacks, I'm gagging for a place that does good home-made arepa. For me the best arepa in town are currently at the family run Mi Cocina es Tuya in Crystal Palace - but that's quite some schlep even for one of their home-made treasure. Surely someone in Harringay can do better!
