Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I was looking at a detailed map of coronavirus cases https://www.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=47574f7a6e45... and noticed that one of the areas was Harringay East. I can't say I've heard of it before, is it a new designation?

I don't think they're the usual political areas. I googled 'MSOA 2011' and got this...

It’s not an official area name, but it’s accurately descriptive.

I love the fact they’ve picked up Harringay Warehouse from Google for the area to the south. When I added that area to G Maps (back in the days when you could do that sort of thing), I never thought it would stick. But it was honestly come by. It’s based on how many of the locals who live there referred to it.

Yes, it seems this is a MSOA https://www.datadictionary.nhs.uk/data_dictionary/nhs_business_defi...

I wonder how those names/areas are decided? It seems linked to postcodes somewhow.

The railway station, now called just Harringay, was in the 1950s called Harringay West, so the idea of an east and west Harringay is not that new

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting map.

Note that this map is updated weekly, here is the latest version:

You can see that there continues to be a bit of a spike around Stamford hill and the surrounding area.
