The odd thing about the shop in the picture is that it was at 31 Church Street, Stoke Newington, neither in Harringay nor the borough of Haringey. (They should have just called it Hackney Electrics!)

I remember the electrical shop pictured, which was just around the corner when we moved in in 1988. There was a greater variety of useful shops in those days - now it's mostly food shops, restaurants and hairdressers (I counted SEVEN in the two blocks between here and Homebase, plus a nailbar.)
