Haringey Sustainability Month is once again showcasing green ideas and activities throughout the borough, and some of the local grass roots groups seeking a transition to a more sustainable society. Local residents and local organisations have organised an exciting range of green/sustainability-related events of all kinds throughout the month.

Weds 1st June, 7pm (film 8pm): Green on the Screen: 'No Impact Man' Film - follows a family's efforts to make no carbon impact and tread lightly on the Earth. Watch and see what happens... For those wanting an introduction to renewables and are mad about bikes, this course is a great way to learn about creating electricity from bicycles. An opportunity to see a range of existing homes which have been retrofitted with energy efficiency and microgeneration measures to cut their carbon footprint. 15 houses will open in Camden, Islington, Haringey and Hackney, offering a chance to talk to owners about their experience of installing energy efficiency measures.4 houses in Haringey will be open (see the weblink). Wed 15th June, 6.30pm-8.30pm: Railway Fields Nature Walk and talk with David Bevan. Renowned London Botanist will be taking you around Railway Fields and pointing out all the interesting flora and fauna, followed by a talk about the history of the reserve. Sat 25th June: Launch of 'The Bus', a living memorial to Nigerian writer and campaigner Ken Saro-Wiwa Ken Saro-Wiwa was murdered in Nigeria for calling for environmental protection for communities being exploited and destroyed by oil exploitation by multinational corporations. There were international protests in response: 'The Bus' is by artist Sokari Douglas Camp. @ Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Town Hall Approach Rd, N15.
