According to the Haringey Friends of Parks Forum:
The Council's spending on green spaces is already in the lowest 'quartile' of comparable boroughs, yet the threatened cuts are almost the highest in the UK.
They go on to say:
We believe this will make our green spaces unsafe, and return them back to the shocking neglect of the 1980/90s. We call on the Council to halt the plans.
They have mounted a petition which simply demands:
We call on the Council to halt the plans, and put adequate resources into our vital local parks and green spaces.
Despite considerable local concern about parks, however, so far, on Day 7, only 47 people have signed. I wonder why?

I signed it online, takes less than 2 minutes to sign up and sign on. A lot less hassle than having derelict parks full of rubbish and nowhere nice to take the children to play.
How many have you got now? Haringey Council online petition has got nearly 200.
We're keeping a tally on our Vartry Communities Residents' Association website.
