Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Haringey Million Poppies Initiative Gets Council Support as Part of Four Year Programme

A couple of weeks back I arranged a meeting about the Haringey Million Poppies initiative with Lewis Taylor, the Parks Manager for the west of the borough,

Today, Liz, Richard (From the Bowes and Bound website) and I had a very positive meeting with with Lewis. The Council are very supportive and want to dovetail our initiative with a 4-year WWI programme being co-ordinated throughout the borough by Deborah Hedgcock at Bruce Castle Museum.

We've agreed to submit an outline four-year plan to Lewis after talking with the Haringey Friends of Parks group, with Deborah Hedgecock and anyone else we can think of.

This initiative came to mind with it being D-Day. How has your plan progressed Hugh? Is anything happening this year?

Good question. Seeing the news earlier today, I was feeling guilty about the inaction. Liz, Richard McKeever and I met with Lew at Parks and we sent him a plan as requested. Recently we heard back that we could get some seeds. I'v been hellishly busy for the past coups of months so haven't progressed anything personally. I'll check with Liz and Richard and see where they're at. (All donated monies are a safely in the HoL account and I'm happy to return any at the point that anybody's patience wears out!)

One small part of the project underway is the distribution of free seeds.

Bowes and Bounds have taken several packets for sowing and tomorrow at the South Harringay Summer Fair we will be giving out free seeds and asking people to sow them around the neighbourhood.
