We have distributed consultation leaflets to our local town centres, asking for your comments on proposed changes to Parking Charges for Haringey

This consultation started on 18 January and will close on 28th January 2011

UPDATE: Cllr Canver, cabinet member for Neighbourhoods, confirms that the deadline for this consultation has been extended to Feb 4th. The amended page now reads

Across the borough the Council propose to increase the charge of various parking permits/pay and display charges as set out in the document linked below. The Council are inviting comments on these proposals which should be directed to Frontline.consultation@haringey.gov.uk or by post to "Frontline Consultation, 2nd Floor River Park House, London, N22 8HQ”

In order to obtain feedback from both visitors and local businesses on how the proposed increase in the Pay and Display charges may impact their shopping/businesses, we have taken this opportunity to distribute questionnaires to our local town centres. These documents are also available to download below and completed questionnaires can be sent in to us by: FREEPOST, NAT20890 PO Box 264, London N22 8BR or alternatively fax them to 020 8489 1251

(Site admin notes: The questionnaires linked to above appear to be for visitors i.e. non residents to main shopping areas and businesses. At this stage, the way for residents to respond online appears to be via email to the address above. The re-wording on the site now makes things much clearer)

So, there is no online survey then. That's all an illusion. I wonder why not. I could set one up in 10 minutes. All Haringey Consultations have online surveys. Why is this one different? Nilgun?
That's right. No need for a survey.

The consultation doesn't make sense Nilgun. Parking charges are increasing for:

- Resident permits

- Pay & display

- Trade permits

- Visitor permits

- Business permits

 

You invite general, unstructured feedback on all changes by email or post:

However, you're actively canvassing feedback on just one type of parking permit and facilitating structured feedback for that type alone:

So three questions from me:

1. Why is the facility of online feedback unavailable for this consultation,  when, as far as I'm aware, all other consultations offer this option?

2. Why is feedback being actively canvassed only on commercial related parking charges?

3. Why is structured feedback (the provision of questionnaires) being facilitated only on commercial related parking charges?

 

Hugh, it is a statutory notification period. Not sure what you mean with Q1 but will check. The questionnaires are produced to try to assess the economic impact on businesses where it relates to pay and display. This was requested by the scrutiny and agreed by the Cabinet.

I asked Haringey Parking Service about the public notices fixed to lampposts and when they were put up. Today (26 January) I was told that the Council's contractor:

" . . . had placed Public Notices on all streets affected by parking charge proposals by 14 January 2011. We had hoped that this work would be complete by 13 January, however due to the number of roads involved an additional day’s work was required. The instruction to contractors was to place two notices on each road affected by proposals. Some roads (due to their length) required additional signs and specific instructions were given in this respect." 

"Our inspectors have also checked that the works were carried out in accordance with instructions. The closing date for feedback on proposals is 4 February 2011."
