I duly moved my car into another street as instructed last night so that the council could carry out gully cleansing, but as far as I can see nothing has happened. They were meant to do Lothair and Burgoyne as well - any sign of them?

Yes it's been done, the right hand side of the street first, round the block, then up the left hand side, around 11 a.m. You should find a 2 inch wide yellow spray-paint spot on the kerb next to your nearest gully, to show it's cleaned and working.
The one outside my house is still blocked in places, although it has a yellow dot.
You mean the surface grating I guess - that's not really what they were dealing with, rather clearing several years-worth (and several large bucketloads) of grit and silt from the very large U-bend several feet down from street level so that water discharges into the stormwater sewer.
If you feel it still won't drain properly and water will run onto Green Lanes then get them back, I suppose.
One of many tips I offered for my ex-councillor colleagues was that:
Rain - especially heavy rain - is Mother Nature's way of showing local councils the location of blocked drain gullies.
Mother Nature in her bounty usually provides some handy free tools as well.
Perfect timing by mother nature then, this morning's downpour will have cleared even more of that particular grating, at least.
No delays in your job? Is it very hard to walk once again? Check the suspensions signs, should be close to drains. IF ther's nothing in this date you can leave your car without consequences. IF it is people from council truck Only relocate your car AS close AS possible.
