Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I expect most of Harringay are keen watchers of Countryfile but in case you missed this week's episode, I thought I'd pop a quick post up about how the gardening sub-group of The Friends of Harringay Passage are getting involved in the Grow Wild project led by Kew Gardens aiming to turn patches of earth into wildflower wildlife-friendly spots.

Last Sunday, a few of us planted our Grow Wild Seeds in the newly adopted Mattison Planters. There's not much to see at the moment but Matt Cuthbert kindly snapped a couple of photos of the planting areas:

and one of the second planter where wild flower seeds have been placed in the triangular part at the top. Look out for signs of life over the next few weeks.

Plans are afoot, weather permitting, to put some of the seeds in the Cavendish planters next weekend. It is also hoped to get some into the Fairfax/Frobisher planters which have recently also been adopted.

If you want to get involved, Ceri Williams of Friends of Chestnuts Park has let me know that the Friends of Chestnuts Park now has 10 boxes of Grow Wild seeds.

Go to Chestnuts Park at 10.30am on 26 April to get your box.

Fantastic, we'll be watching the ladder planters and so will the pollinating insects.  At Railway Fields we've been clearning dense growth in places to let light in so dormant wild flowers come up. Come and see!
