JuticeElaine, you and others seem to have some common interest in arguing for the permaent jegal existence of the State of Israel. Though it seems you and your pals all live in Haringey and want to post on Harringay Online website.
Have I got that right?
Judaism is a world religion and also part of modern philosophy. When I was first in Jerusalem the Jewish Philsopher Martin Buber, lived in the West of the city. which was then still divided. The friend I travelled with most was called Gariel by his Jewish and non-Jewish friends from Europe. He had a letter of introduction to Martin Buber from Gavriel's Lutheran mother back in Germany. He was shy so didn't ring the bell.
In Tottenham Police Station I once met an Alaskan Innuit. I wondered how much she merged being an Innuit with being a citizen of the U.S. State of Alaska. Which as I recall, was purchased from the Russian State by the U.S.
JudgeElaine if you've visited Scotland, Wales, or Ireland, you know that the UK has no right to exist in its current legal form. Many Scots look foward to its ending in the present form. One time we were taken with our Scotts friends to the Peebles Show. At the Show our friend asked advice from David Mundell who was then the remaining Tory MP. Plainly the borders were then more a movable feast then I ever guessed.
Strange how this evratimgness of State boundaries seem to ignore the Palestinians who are still sbout half the population.
Oopps.
Last line, but one a word is mangled should be something like vanishing.
Double OOOPS
Eric Easter has given the game away.
"Israel is on the front line and protecting us here. Israeli intelligence helps our own security service prevent Islamist attacks in London."
It turns out that all those tanks and prisons, and planes and fences and walls and private roads andspying and bombs and tortures and genocide are really there because Israelis serve as the front line to defend Eric Easting and his pals . . . to prevent Islamist attacks in London."
Do those israeli uoung man and women realise how valued they are when they, their sons and daughters provide this service at the cost of their lives or spending night after night in shelters.
What an idiot I was to imagine it was anything to do with Zionism.
Ok, Alan...
"you and others.. though it seems you and your pals all live in Haringey and want to post on Harringay Online website."
Amazing! It's almost like you're suggesting there's some kind of...what could we call it...shadowy cabal who have somehow infiltrated Harringay Online. Not really beating my original point there, but you do you, John Lennon.
"It's almost like you're suggesting there's some kind of...what could we call it...shadowy cabal".
Sorry to disappoint you. But I'm no cabal. Just me, thinking for myself. And I haven't promoted myself to Justice Alan.
Wasn't your original point that states have a permanent right to legal existence. My Scottish example suggests this isn't so. The Irish example even more.
Germany even more, perhaps. My friend Gavriel crossed between the former two Germanies on the Berlin subway with his mother.
One lesson of Ireland is how much more is achieved when the killing stops and the wonderful musics mix.
As we went through local elections there was clearly an impact of sorts from the altered borders of wards and Parliamentary constituencies in Haringey.

Have you come across a religious Jewish professor in the USA named Peter Beinart? Recently he wrote an interesting piece about an American Synagogue which had an Israeli flag and the sign: "We Stand With Israel" on its front lawn. I always find Beinart thoughtful and challenging, even if I disagree with him.
Currently tally is:
The Greens need one more seat from the three available in Fortis Green to have a majority.
Oh dear, they didn't get it. Will require talks with the Lib Dems. Or possibly one of the Lib Dems or Labour councillors to join the Greens. For the Lib Dems to ally with Labour would be the most vile betrayal since.... well, their last one.
They will be desperate to continue in power. I wonder what concessions the Lib Dems will be looking for in coalition talks ?
No one said they were amazing.
Momentum....and the Third World.
