Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I'll be avoiding all the local shops on Green Lanes after my experience today. No clue about social distancing or understanding what 2 meters apart means.

I was in Yasir Halim and had staff brush past me. Customers way too close with no proper markings separating people. It's like the news has just washed over them.

Walking down Green Lanes felt like I was taking my life in my hands (even more than usual) with  people not making way for others. The staff of the grocery stores standing in the middle of the street. It's shocking and I'll be sticking to Sainsbury's and other stores where they actually have some sort of orderly system.

I went to green lanes earlier and it wasn't so bad, but I understand where you are coming from,  There are markings in Maqsud where I bought a newspaper and people were spaced out waiting to shop in Iceland. The queue at the post office was also well spaced out when I went the other day. But there are quite a few people out there and don't go out often.

I agree that some people walking down Green Lanes seem oblivious to it all but I think the shop keepers have generally been doing their best and have been limiting the number of people. The problem is those shops are so narrow, it must be a nightmare to keep the shelves stocked with so little space. It’s been a pretty tough few weeks for the staff I imagine.

Need a barrier outside and only allow two or three in at a time.  It's the only way.

How many shops did you go in to make this sweeping judgment about the whole high street? I went out for the first time in a few days today and found it to be much quieter than normal, with people generally respecting social distancing well. Of course its not possible for people to maintain a 2m gap at literally all times - you won't manage that in sainsburys either.

I doubt whether KP has carried out a scientific study awaiting to peer review measuring social distancing in Green Lanes greengrocers, but nonetheless it would be interesting to know which general food stores on the main drag of Green Lanes are operating a "one in, one out" policy. Or which stores aren't doing so.

Of course, it's much easier to just smear the whole high street based on your prejudices, and/or some arbitrary criteria.

Yes, I agree. Some sort of yardstick would be useful as a guide, such as "one in, one out".

Accurate social distancing would only work if everyone had a yardstick. If you're the only person with a stick, it would need to be a two-yard stick.

Or indeed a 2.18723 yardstick...

And Spiderman is the only person on HOL who isn't prejudiced.

Yes it is!

And I'm guessing you're a store owner
