Greater London Authority comes to the community to discuss landmark Tottenham Property development

St Ann’s Redevelopment Trust (StART) is holding a consultation on the GLA’s proposals for the £50m St Ann’s Hospital site development.

After months of negotiations, Haringey’s community-led organisation that is working with the Greater London Authority to ensure that the land purchased by the GLA in 2018 includes a majority of genuinely affordable housing, is coming back to the community with proposals laid out by the Mayor and his team.

On Saturday 13th April, between 1pm and 5pm at the Phoenix Millennium Centre on West Green Road, residents of Haringey will get to hear directly from the GLA about the plan for the former-hospital site and see whether it meets the wants and needs of local people.

“This is a chance for local people to have their say and sit down with StART and the GLA to discuss the future of the area”, said StART chair Marlene Barrett.

“StART created a vision for the site in consultation with local people. As well as a strong focus on environment and health, the strongest demand was for homes that are genuinely affordable forever to local people. We have been working with the GLA for the past 2 years to try and ensure the proposals they will put to developers who will eventually build on the site match the needs of the people of Haringey. Now the people of Haringey can assess how far the plans meet this vision.”

Prior to the Consultation, members of StART will also be hosting an "Introduction to Start" session, 11:30am - 1:00pm, where members will attempt to answer questions about StART.  

About StART:
The St Ann’s Redevelopment Trust (StART) was formed by Haringey residents who want to ensure that the proposed housing developments on the former St Ann’s Hospital site provides as many desperately needed, genuinely affordable homes for people in the local community as possible.

StART has a membership of over 450 residents and over 1000 registered local supporters. Its mandate comes from a series of community engagement events asking the people of Tottenham and the wider borough of Haringey what they wanted to see on the site, which led to a list of community demands that StART called it’s Shared Objectives.
