With a great turnout for today's Lantern making workshop at The Salisbury, preparations for next Friday's Harringay Lantern Parade are going swimmingly.
Organiser Ant Elder was buzzing. He told me, "It's great to see the level of support this is getting from the community. People have come from all over Harringay. We've got people from Woodlands, The Gardens, the Hermitage Road area and from the Ladder."
If you missed today but would like to take part, you can join tomorrow's workshop at Harringay Market. And don't forget the Lantern Parade next Friday.

I have the feeling that we've had the good luck to be present at the beginning of something that's set to become a long-lasting tradition here. Many thanks, Petra, Ant, Anna and everyone else who have given the children (and their parents!) such great and unexpected fun.
Now let's hope for good weather for the parade!
This was such a brilliant event. My two daughters were delighted to each make a lantern and eagerly await the procession on Friday. Many thanks to everyone who made this happen.
Having a craft type event and indoor space at the market worked really well. We stayed on to have lunch at the market. A great family event to spend 1:1 time with kids and meet local people. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Oh its not me who has any singing talent though would love to. Its a friend who was possibly going to play piano to have one but wasn't sure Salisbury or where ever parade ended up had piano?
Can you send me your email addy or mobile and I can ask friend to contact you direct?
you could try the tottenham singers, perhaps someone from that group would come and lead singing. cant promise my contact will be available..
Thanks everyone for coming and making this so successful, i hope the procession works out so well. The big thanks must go to Anna who sorted out most of the materials and showed us how to make the lanterns, it wouldn't have happened without her.
Most of my phone photos were a bit rubbish but i quite like this one:
My son and I went to South Harringay school on Sunday.....Very good! We're both looking forward to the parade on Friday. See you there!
Hi Ant. Hope it goes really well tonight - I am so sorry to be missing it, as I really enjoyed making some lanterns on Sunday! Sally
