Great Northern Metro Services to be reduced further during pandemic

Great Northern rail has added the following statement to its website.

Train services will change from Monday 22nd February as we introduce a new, reduced timetable – to better match demand.

The new timetable focuses train services on early morning, late evening, and peak times. A smaller timetable will also ensure that services are as reliable as possible for people travelling at a time when railway staff, like everyone, are affected by coronavirus.

The statement goes on to detail the following:

• Great Northern Metro services will be half-hourly outside peak times
• During the morning and evening peak periods services will operate  every 15 minutes

The full new timetable is yet to be published and may not be available till a few days before 22nd Feb.
