LIZ, I see that the first Borough of Culture criterion* is, "celebrating Haringey’s identity as a Rebel Borough".
Rebel Borough: Projects that explore radical histories, social movements and cultures of resistance associated with Haringey.
I would have thought that the rebels of the Borough demonstrated a rebellion on Thursday, 7th May 2026!

I cant help but think that there are more important things to spent limited public funds on.

ONE of the salient feature of the previous several Administrations has been their chronic inability to prioritise.
If every scheme is a priority—regardless of merit or urgency—then nothing has priority and public money is incinerated. As it was, in its tens of millions.
This feature is blurred by bluster, and by the tireless public relations team, itself funded through taxation.
