Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Where do you buy yours? I want a decent chest of drawers, solid wood, that I will still like and can still use in 20 years time. However, I am finding that these can be pretty pricey - I'd like to pay under £300 if possible. Rather than going somewhere like John Lewis, I'm interested in supporting a local business, if possible - and getting something a little more unique in the process, I hope. Any recommendations of any North London gems? I'd consider both new and used.

..try www.oak.furnitureland.co.uk.... brilliant.

If you decide to go for second hand, you could try an Emmaus shop.  I have tried only the Cambridge one myself (which is great) but I see that there are two shops in South London run by their Greenwich community.

My own oak chests of drawers were bought 2nd hand in Belgium where such stuff seems to have remained popular for much longer than here.  When I last visited a show room in the southern part of Brussels, brand new solid oak furniture was still very much in evidence.
