Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Good morning Harringay - vote Karen ALEXANDER today for a strong voice on the council

I can't put into words how disappointed I was when David Schmitz and I lost our Harringay council seats in 2014. The terrific show of support we received showed how disappointed residents were too. I love Harringay with a passion so I am committed to making it a better place for all our residents. A resignation has opened the opportunity for me to return today.

If you want another strong Libdem voice on Haringey Council, keeping Haringey Labour to account - vote Karen ALEXANDER

If you want a local resident of 20 years who knows the ward inside out - vote Karen ALEXANDER

If you want a local councillor who understands local issues and knows how to address them - vote Karen ALEXANDER

If you want someone who has 8 years experience on the council, sat on the scrutiny (watchdog) committee helping scrutinise and shape council policy - vote Karen ALEXANDER

If you want the return of a councillor who has a reputation for getting things done - vote Karen ALEXANDER

My promise to you is that I will work tirelessly for the people of this ward, you can be sure that I won't let you down.

Happy to answer any questions during the course of the day here on HoL.

Hi Karen, how will you engage with the council and the consultants over the current traffic survey for the ward and in particular in aiming to reduce traffic volumes in the area?

I've been involved from the start with Living Wightman and with the LCSP Traffic Committee. It's really important that there are plenty of discussions with local residents to generate ideas and opinions on all sides. A low traffic Wighman Road is the key to addressing the traffic issues across the Ladder. As your councillor I would be liaising with the consultants, making suggestions and presenting ideas about how we should move forward. I would be lobbying the council, representing local views and driving a campaign for change and pressing them to look at the challenges that the closure has presented and looking at viable workable solutions.

Same here, please let me know if you get a response to this!

Voted at about 8:45 (at the South Harringay school station) and there had been thirty odd voters before me so a bit of slow start.
Good luck Karen!
Good luck Karen!

Wishing you, Karen, the best of British (& European) today. Anywhere else in the country, you would win by a mile - people would remember your hard work having spent eight years on the council representing Harringay, local connections and, if anything, the lack of opposition on the Council (in the Tottenham constituency, made up or nine wards or 29 Councillors, each and every one of them is Labour) and the appalling management of the local authority. Here, though, we live in the heart of darkness- a Corbyn Bubble - which means having good local connections, the ability and experience to represent - and fight for - residents, scrutinise, oppose and come up with alternatives all goes out of the window for Guardian dogma. There is no hope in Haringey, sadly.
