Globechain: a giant Give and Take online platform

Globechain is an environmental e-bay - an online platform that connects people, charities and businesses to enable them to reuse unwanted items within a global supply chain network. The site allows you to either search or dispose of useful items that might otherwise end up in landfill.

Globechain provides a solution to commercial and household waste in local communities by promoting sustainability through reuse. The site is: free for individuals to register and give and take items, and free for businesses, local authorities and charities to register and to take items.

Over 200 companies have already registered including, Arcadia Group (BHS, Topshop, Miss Selfridge),  Expedia.com, West London Waste Authority, London Reuse Network, Charity Retail Association (over 9,000 charities within their network across the UK), Comic Relief, St Giles Trust, the Institute of Directors (45,000 members), Westminster and Southwark councils, plus many more as well as individuals.

At the moment, there's not a lot on there and some of the bigger stuff is for SMEs and charities only but it may be a site worth keeping an eye on
