Garden Query
First of all I wanted to ask if anyone has a garden which they don't really use/ don;t have the time to garden. And if so would you consider letting me and a friend grow some veg/fruit on it?(I know it's a long shot!).
My second quesiton is this.... I just moved into a 1st floor flat on Warham road and wondered if anyone has used their flat roof at the back as a roof terrace?

I seriously doubt that's allowed. The council turn a blind eye to cramming people into small spaces but not allowing them to get sun tans while they look down on their neighbours.

You could always combine both objectives and grow veg in growbags on your flat roof - a subject dear to my heart, as that's exactly how I first got into gardening three years ago. :)
I don't share John's pessimism. Can't see any reason why the council would concern themselves with people making use of their outdoor space (unless someone can point me at the legislation). I reckon you'll be ok - provided of course your roof is structurally sound enough!

One of my neighbours has illegally changed a window into a door to access their flat roofed ground floor extension. It's like a catwalk and they only dare use it to hang the washing out so I assumed it was illegal. They'd certainly have a rather regal view of us all in our gardens which would not be very nice.
On the other hand
Bad situation: sun loungers, g&ts, being more beautiful than us.
OK situation: laundry hanging.
Good situation: roof garden and obvious back problems.

well you could be the answer im looking for i live on wightman rd i have a piece of garden that id love for there to be veg growing i have started to loose my sight so find gardening tricky and im a novice so would be happy for my garden to have some tlc only thing is dont have seperate access so would need to go through flat not sure how that could work but open to meeting and discussing possability

If there are any more people like AJ England, with land but not able to grow things, I'd LOVE to hear about it please.
I've just completed a gardening course, and am a regular volunteer at a National Trust garden in London. I live in Manor House.

Hi iv just moved to wightman rd and have a garden flat. Which is a bit overgrown plus it has some bits that were left by the builders who done the conversion mainly a bath! but its a lawn (about knee high:( ) but if your interested in putting it to good use your more than welcome ;) Iv got permission from the landlady to do what i like with it within reason so no problem their. Only problems are firstly the only access to it is via my flat, secondly Im waiting for a couple of operations (herniated disc and a shattered cartilage in my knee:( ) so Im not much use at the moment, But saying that im pretty much housebound so Im nearly always in. It's great that those with space are linking up with those who want to use it. Grow bags on flat roofs are good but be careful about load bearing. The grow bag are probably no problem but you and a watering can might be. We all now have these ex-recycling boxes. Drill a few holes, chuck in some crocks and you've got a veg box.
