"Free to good home" Noticeboard
Following on from the recent discussion regarding salvaging items at the Reuse and Recycling Centres, I think it would be good if reusable items could be posted on a Noticeboard somewhere on HOL when people have items to get rid of. As I don't own a car, getting things to the Centre is a pain for me and I have to rely on friends and neighbours goodwill to recycle stuff. In reality what happens is things I no longer need just get shoved in the loft, when I would prefer that someone else put them to good use instead.

Totally agree Antoinette. Wanted to see something like this on HOL for ages. On the front page, scrolling down one side, 'For Sale/For Free'. Something like that? Lots of separate posts kinda get lost at the moment.

Errr... possibly. I only ever read the stuff on HOL if you include it in your weekly update e-mail. (Cos your my HOL hero! :-) Could you include a line in the update along the lines of "there are currently x no. of items listed for sale and y no. listed for free"? I reckon that would do nicely....

Hi Antoinette, we include all new stuff listed in that group and in the main forum in the weekly email under the section called Help . Maybe we should change the title to Offers and Requests to make it clearer that it is about people offering or asking for stuff

I think it could be clearer still! To me, "offers" are special offers such as money off vouchers etc., and "requests" are (generally) requests for information or sponsorship etc.

What about splitting it into stuff (goods) offered/wanted and services (help) offered/wanted. That way it's easier to list your stuff in the right place, and easier for people to locate it. Just a thought...

That's a good idea. I wonder if we should do that for the newsletter once we get sufficient items to warrant the split.
In the meantime, I've taken up your suggestion and split the categories for posting in the forum.
