Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

A few days ago, the Foodcycle Stapleton Hall Community Cafe asked people across Haringey to help them raise £5,000 using via the PeopleFundit site.

They needed this money to keep the café running for a year. With it they can save over 1000 kg of surplus fruit and veg from going to waste and instead cook it into over 2000 tasty meals for people who can't normally afford to eat out. They are also  able to offer over 700 volunteering opportunities for people in the community. The cafe is 'pay what you can' so anyone can enjoy the meals.

Tonight they are celebrating as they managed to hit their target via an intensive online campaign that saw people pledge anything from £2 to £100 (if you pledged bigger sums you received 'rewards') to keep the cafe running. This is an interesting model of fundraising that combined with a strong online presence can clearly work well.

Tonight they are justifiably celebrating and I wish them well in the coming year.

Thanks Liz - we're very happy right now!

Thanks to everyone who supported us and hopefully see you at the Cafe for lunch one day!

Wow, this is brilliant news. I would love to come and eat at the Foodcycle Cafe - is this possible, and if so where is it?

Hi Marice,

Of course you can come along! We serve every Friday lunchtime from 12 - there's a three-course menu usually with 2 options for each course and we also have spare fruit and veg which you can take home. The cafe is based at MIND in Haringey which is on Stapleton Hall Road. We usually have a board outside to make it easy for people to find!

Address is: Station House, 73c Stapleton Hall Road, London, N4 3QF

Look forward to seeing you there!
