Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Interesting to see a 5-out-of-5 food hygiene rating sticker in Ha Ph's window.

The food rating agency's website tells a different story - http://hgyol.in/2giLm7z

Maybe someone mailed them the wrong sticker?

Not sure I fancy their sizzling seafood platter now.

I have to say I wasn't at all impressed the one time I went there - it did look like it could use a good clean

You may want to read the discussion on page 1 of this thread: http://hgyol.in/2f2nKPB

It seems new restaurants receive 1 star before inspection, and the website does not seem to have been updated since December which is around when the restaurant opened. I suspect the sticker on the door is more up to date than the website.

On the back of the window sticker there may well be an issue date from the council.

Simon,Your use of a VERY controversial word in your headline like "Concern" and negative reference to their seafood platter is very unfair. I found HP's service excellent and food delicious. This is a good trading restaurant and life is hard enough on Green Lanes with all the competition without unnecessary sarcasm. Have you spoken to them at all about their sticker?

We ate there a couple of times when it first opened and I have to say the food was excellent. The place looked a bit dirty though, especially the floor and front windows. It might have changed now and to be honest, it might not reflect the cleanliness of their kitchen.

thanks for adding those links to the planning page simon. i feel in the interest of balance i should link to another one

as you say the correct rating remains to be seen. if they've misrepresented they deserve to be wrist-slapped. but in the meantime i found that reading what i assume is your planning objection was worth the doing.

i don't need to come back to you simon. you already have my unconditional support for putting to rights anything that hp may, or may not, be doing which contravenes their licensing or planning conditions. however, if your beef is over those issues, id rather see you tackle them head-on than the approach youve taken here.

If you're worried about HP I implore you to never EVER visit Vietnam. Especially if you plan on eating.

I trust you never walked through the meat markets in Hanoi then

Banks won't give mortgages on properties above "chip shops" (anything with a big extractor fan) because of the fire risk. Unmortgageable properties trade at a significant discount to the market. Hence Simon's motivation although I wish he'd been clearer about this rather than disparage the food and hygiene of the place.

I don't know how the Turkish restaurant intending to open up in the Fairline premises will get around this, perhaps they own the properties above, perhaps they're watching what happens with this restaurant.

Looks like this thread needs a tag: 'grudge match'.
