I wonder how it came to be that he ended up in Finsbury Park.

He got a train to London from Chelmsford then made several train journeys across London according to the newspapers - just before he was arrested he was on a 29 bus on Harringay Green Lanes - I know this as I was on the bus looking at him thinking "He looks like that bloke the police are looking for" - although he was now wearing different clothing and had a different bag to what he was pictured with on the CCTV images they released of him - almost as soon as that thought entered my head a police car overtook the bus and stopped it and a police officer got on - they went straight upstairs where they were quickly joined by a female police officer and after a few seconds the first officer came downstairs and checked out the occupants of the lower deck including this guy who just stared straight ahead - then the police officer left the bus after which the female police officer came downstairs and also checked out the occupants of the lower deck and she also left the bus - neither officer uttered a word - they got back in their car and drove off and the driver of the bus closed the doors and continued - I got off by Manor House but as I was getting off I overheard on the drivers radio something about "Black Puffer Jacket with hood up on 29 Harringay Green Lanes ( which is what he was wearing and where we were! ) I got on the tube to Kings Cross and boarded the train I was getting on - within minutes I was reading of his arrest in Finsbury Park and a few minutes later looking at the picture of him being arrested by police - was definitely the same guy in the same clothes with the same bag he had on the bus - methinks the police were too hasty and so over eager to nick someone ( adrenaline rush )  that they didn't see them right in front of them....he was sat right by the buggy / wheelchair area - I was stood by the stairs - when the police came downstairs they were stood right by him! - If the police had said "anybody seen this man?" or something of the sort I most likely would've said "what him?" whilst pointing at him but they said bugger all and were on and off the bus in a minute or less....I will say that I wasn't 100% certain it was him - but it seems it was...

Paul, thanks for your interesting account.

In another BBC story partly related to Finsbury Park, we learn of Finsbury Park's role in central London phone theft:

When the BBC joins a patrol at Finsbury Park Station, one British Transport Police officer points out a man walking past. …

BTP officers are often patrolling the transport network undercover, particularly around known hotspot areas like Finsbury Park.

Above: FoFP AGM before Police Officers arrived. On the video link at upper left is a Q&A with Syd, one of the Finsbury Park Rangers.

Haringey Police officers were guests at last week's AGM of the Friends of Finsbury Park.

A representative of the Harringay Community Ladder Safety Partnership put questions to the officers. Among other matters, they described how the Piccadilly line was the quick exit route from central London for thieves carrying stolen mobiles, lifted in central London. Apparently, thieves often decamp at FP and seek distribution points at certain nearby locations.

Interesting account, thanks

He delivered my Kung Pao chicken on Friday night.

What a cheap, vile comment.
Demonising those who work long hours for low pay is the definition of 'punching down'.
If you had some decency, you'd reflect on this and delete.
Please don't reply, I'm not interested

More an observation of the lack of control over illegal immigration and illegal working (especially around here) than a condemnation of low paid workers or whatever 'punching down' means. Of all the places in London he chose here because he could blend in easily.

He delivered my Kung Pao chicken on Friday night.

If you meant this in good heart and in good faith, then it is a pity that it comes across as sneering.

Like Alan, I'm curious as to exactly where is the here, in "especially around here" ?

Also, where is the here as in, "he chose here", pray?

Have you decided to devote what's left of your life to turning HoL into the same kind of racist cesspit the Far Right have turned most other public spaces into?

If you don't like it here, why not move, eh?

I believe that's the catch phrase used in such circles.

If you don't like it here, why not move, eh?

Hugh D indeed; but we do not yet know where is Chloe Evans' here.

This is true.

Oh I think I might just stay right where I am. I'm starting to enjoy you lot squirming as the pendulum swings back to the centre and your little bubble of luxury beliefs goes pop! I'm young, politically engaged like my friends and the future is ours.
